The Grimsby Institute is North East Lincolnshire's dynamic provider of further and higher Education, offering students from across the county and surrounding regions with a world-class learning environment, offering students the chance to study full or part-time at further or higher education level in a diverse range of subjects.
The Institute was rated as OUTSTANDING by Ofsted inspectors on their recent visit in 2017. They highlighted involvement of students, culture of success and often outstanding levels of teaching as being of a high quality.

The Grimsby Institute Group (GIG) is one of England's largest providers of Further and Higher Education, with a rich history of developing innovative training and education solutions for the community. With campuses in Grimsby, Louth, Skegness and Scarborough the Grimsby Institute Group offers an amazing range of provision to meeting local need and demand. The vast array of training options include Further and Higher Education choices offering Apprenticeships, community provision, business training, work-based training and commercial activities.
Our Nuns Corner Campus, located in the centre of Grimsby, is the main provider of vocational
training in the region and is home to the Engineering & Renewable Energy Centre, a brand new £6 million Sports Centre and amazing new premises for Grimsby School of Art, being unveiled in 2014.
Nuns Corner is also home to the £20 million University Centre Grimsby. UCG opened its doors in 2011 offers a dedicated home for our Higher Education programmes that we offer in partnerships with the University of Hull and Teesside University. From September 2014 we will be awarding our own Foundation Degrees from UCG after receiving Foundation Degree Awarding Powers from the Privy Council on 1st August 2013.
The Grimsby Institute offers fantastic learner support including impartial, personalised careers and progression guidance and a range of financial support services. We also offer a counselling service, mentoring and engagement activities and health and well-being advice. In addition to extensive pastoral support, we offer a wide range of study support services through classroom based coaches, mentors and tutors.
Learner Services, within the Grimsby Institute, holds the Matrix Standard which represents the effective delivery of high quality information, advice and/or guidance on learning and work.
The Institute provides education and training for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. The range of levels available enables all students to find a course suitable for their abilities. We are committed to ensuring that people with disabilities, including those with learning difficulties, are treated fairly. All reasonable adjustments to provision will be made to ensure they are not substantially disadvantaged. Support services are available as follows:- Study Skills Centre (in 2D11) supplies individual help for numeracy/literacy and computer skills Additional support for course work and exams can also be arranged. Dyslexia Unit Visually Impaired Unit Help for the hearing and physically impaired Help for speakers of other languages (ESOL) Additionally the Institute can support students by arranging student support workers, a key support tutor and special equipment as required A copy of the Institute Disability Statement is available at the Main Reception and on the student intranet. Learner Advisors at the Institute are also pro-active in helping to meet the requirements of students with disabilities. Staff are available throughout the campus to assist disabled students and a facility for the visually impaired is located within the main library. In accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act, we have all the equipment you will need to ensure a comfortable learning experience during your time at the Institute.

Offering both beautiful countryside and miles of award-winning sandy beaches, whatever the weather a feast of fun awaits. With the combination of the calm and tranquil lakeside and the hustle and bustle of the seafront, promenade and the new meridian development, the region really has something for everyone. With access to fantastic shopping and theme parks, some of the finest seaside resorts, and beautiful coastline you will be spoilt for choice on how to spend your free-time. Grimsby and Cleethorpes also offer a great choice of restaurants, cafes, pubs and nightlife, and it really is a fantastic time to be a student in Grimsby.
Learners at the Grimsby Institute participate in a range of activities depending on their interests, from different sports academies, enrichment activities including circuit training, multi-sports, chess club, pool competitions, dancing, bingo, gym sessions, and themed activities throughout the year. Learners are involved in the development of activities.
Additionally, there are academic related activities such as study visits and trips, employer talks and progression events.
